The Parr Lumber Great Summer Chef Off Presented by the Safeway Foundation celebrates oregon food, wine and microbrews at a summer farm-to-table event benefiting Harrington Family Foundation's Scholarship-Mentorship Program. Chef Off brings together notable Portland chefs for a BBQ cook- off to benefit HFF’s scholarship recipients on a beautiful 7-acre Sauvie Island farm. St. Jack Restaurant & Bar returns to defend its title of reigning champ with the culinary genius of PLAZA DEL TORO chef Michael Kessler, Pearl Tavern, and Park Kitchen. New this year is a mouthwatering ‘dessert-off’ between Pip’s Original Doughnuts and Kyra’s Bake Shop!

FLAME & VINE

Experience the vibrant flavors of Willamette Valley fields, forests, and vineyards, courtesy of our three talented guest chefs and event host, Erath Winery.

Chefs John Gorham of Toro Bravo, Jody Kropf of Red Hills Market, and Henry Kibit of Sokol Blosser Winery partner to produce a four-course seasonal meal of regional seafood, local meats and produce dramatically prepared over live fire. Specially selected estate and vineyard-designated Erath wines accompany each course for a unique meal celebrating summer.

Bounty of Yamhill County’s signature event at Sokol Blosser Winery features 20 chefs paired with 20 farmers to create a walk-around feast celebrating summer’s bounty. Sip wines from 25 of Yamhill County’s most prestigious producers, while mingling with the winemakers and chefs. Take home a treasure from a 500+ bottle Wall of Wine! John Gorham and Kasey Mills of Shalom Y'all SE and Mediterranean Exploration Company will bring a wood-fired oven to make fresh pitas!

DIM SUM TAPAS:
LANGBAAN CHEF BRANDON HIRAHARA

SEPTEMBER 07

PLAZA DEL TORO’s eighth edition of the Dim Sum Tapas dinner series features chef Brandon Hirahara of lauded Portland Thai restaurant, Langbaan. Brandon will present a menu in the service style of Dim Sum with tapas inspired by Langbaan and influenced by his 14-year career in kitchens throughout his home state of Hawaii and Portland restaurants such as Aviary and Genoa. PLAZA DEL TORO chef Michael Kessler and pastry chefs Ashley Claybaugh and Mary Silvfen will fill out the Dim Sum with additional dishes and desserts to complement Brandon’s menu. Guest bartender Jon Lewis of PaaDee will design a specialty cocktail menu in collaboration with Tasty n Alder bartender Jeremy Meilen.

Chef John Gorham offer bites from Bless Your Heart Burgers at FEAST's Night Market tasting event alongside 20 chefs from all around the Pacific Rim uniting for a night of adventurous food, drinks, and jump-to-your-feet music.

Chef Kasey Mills offers bites from Shalom Y'all at SMOKED!,  Feast’s over-the-top take on the backyard cookout of your wildest imagination. It all goes down at The Fields in the Pearl District, where there’s grass under your feet and the iconic Fremont Bridge providing the backdrop. When the sun dips behind the Forest Park, the glow of giant flaming grills lights the way as world-class chefs serve up the amazing and the unexpected. There’s a noteworthy array of cocktails, fine wines and craft beers to cool it all down, too. It’s every carnivore’s smoky dream sequence—but you’ll be fully awake, wandering from grill station to grill station in a meat-fueled blissful state.

CONSTRUCTING ALBERT 
FILM SCREENING & TAPAS RECEPTION

Portland Art Museum

La Ruta PDX and NW Film Center present a screening of Constructing Albert at the Portland Art Museum with cocktail and wine reception prior to the film featuring tapas inspired by the film from Bar Casa Vale, Urdaneta, Pollo Bravo, Toro Bravo and PLAZA DEL TORO. Constructing Albert is a feature documentary following chef Albert Adrià in the period after the renowned Spanish restaurant elBulli closed, as he began to chart his own path out of the huge shadow of his brother Ferran.

Ticket price includes admission to the film and reception prior to the film featuring bites from Bar Casa Vale, Urdaneta, Pollo Bravo, Toro Bravo, PLAZA DEL TORO, as well as hosted wine and cocktails, and live Spanish guitar from Ryan Walsh. Cocktail attire requested.

Music Tastes Good is a two-day music, food & arts festival in Long Beach, CA with over 40 music performances and a curated culinary adventure. Toro Bravo chef Pat Manning will bring Portland and Spain to festival guests in the Taste Tent.

La Ruta PDX, Chef John Gorham, and Aborígens are happy to announce a new food exploration trip around the hidden corners of Catalan and Spanish cuisines. After a first successful tour of the North of the Peninsula Ibérica in 2017, this time they will head South to get immersed into rural Andalusia and the fishing coast of Cadis, where passionate artisans and their amazing products will be waiting.
