In PLAZA DEL TORO's 23rd edition of Versus, Tournant's Jaret Foster squares off against MiHo Izakaya's Michael Miho using strawberries, spring onions, and oxtails. After having a month to bring their A-game, the chefs will come out swinging with three back-to-back courses followed by dessert from PLAZA DEL TORO pastry chef Ashley Claybaugh. Guests vote at the end of dinner, one chef wins, and we donate the proceeds to the winning chef's charity of choice. Ticket includes dinner. Full bar and wine list available for purchase. Doors open promptly at 6pm. House appetizers will be served until 6:30pm.
Toro Bravo and Mediterranean Exploration Company will offer a special regional Spanish tapa June 12-18 to celebrate World Tapas Day, joining Portland restaurants as part of TAPAS TOUR PDX 2017. Toro Bravo's tapa will represent the region of Castilla y León and MEC's will represent the region of Andalucía throughout the week. On June 15th, Toro Bravo and MEC will have live Flamenco guitar. On June 14, traveling students from the Santo Domingo de Archidona Andalucían culinary school in Spain will offer an Andalucían dinner at the PLAZA DEL TORO gastronomic society to celebrate World Tapas Day.

The Culinary School from Málaga, Spain collaborates in this multi-course seated dinner with Chef John Gorham from Toro Bravo Inc. to feature dishes from the south of Spain. Junta de Andalucía brings the school and top products from the region to introduce Portland to the taste of Andalucía. Ticket price includes dinner and Spanish guitar from Toshi Onizuka. Wine pairings and full bar available for purchase.
This event is part of Tapas Tour PDX, a week-long event series in Portland celebrating World Tapas Day. Toro Bravo and Mediterranean Exploration Company will each offer a special regional Spanish tapa June 12-18 and PLAZA DEL TORO will host the finale party on June 18.

Portland Beer Week & Gigantic Brewing present SNACKDOWN! on Sunday June 18th at The Evergreen event space above Loyal Legion. SNACKDOWN! is a fun and entertaining food and beer pairing event where 10 of Portland’s best Chefs and 10 Oregon Brewers are paired into 10 Brewer/Chef teams to make their greatest snack and beer pairing. Guests will choose their favorite pairing and the winners will be awarded the SNACKDOWN Belt! SNACKDOWN! Is the official closing event of Portland Beer Week.

Portland Food Adventures introduces Mediterranean Exploration Company's new catering arm with a beautiful summer solstice event at one of the Dundee Hills' newest wineries, L'Angolo Estate. For #PFA65, you'll feast on Chef Kasey Mills' inaugural remote dinner, where he, along with the team at MEC, including Restaurateur John Gorham, will be putting their best iterations of MEC's upscale Middle-Eastern cuisine on the table in a gorgeous setting, perfect for the one of the latest sunsets of the year. Even better, you'll enjoy beautiful wines from L'Angolo, which will be paired with our dinner after our welcome reception.

La Ruta PDX: A Gastronomic Festival celebrates the culinary culture of Spain in one of the most innovative cities in the United States, Portland Oregon. From 13th to the 16th of July 2017, Portland opens its doors to celebrate the cuisine of Spain for four days of dinners, events, workshops, demos and cultural events.

The gardens of Thomas McCarley and John Eader are located on an acre of land in the hills of SW Portland. These beautiful gardens feature magnificent established plantings that include multiple rhododendrons, camelias, magnolia and dogwood trees. Highlights include a large ornamental cherry tree and a huge Japanese maple, while mature arborvitae and 30 foot cedar bushes form a backdrop for the pool. This fantastic garden space will once again feature Pat Manning, Executive Chef of Toro Bravo, a Spanish tapas restaurant created by restaurateur chef John Gorham. Manning sees food as an opportunity for friends to gather together and enjoy each other’s company, and that is how he approaches the engaging, family-style menu at Toro Bravo.
PARR LUMBER GREAT SUMMER CHEF OFF

The Parr Lumber Great Summer Chef Off, held at Bladberry Farm on Sauvie Island, brings together select Portland chefs for a BBQ cook-off event to benefit the Foundation’s scholarship program, which provides young Oregonians access to high-quality secondary education and mentorship support. The event also includes a short live auction and raise-the-paddle segment.
Presented by Parr Lumber, the cook-off features the culinary genius of St. Jack, Renata, Pearl Tavern and PLAZA DEL TORO, with dessert served by Portland’s own ‘farm-to-cone’ Salt & Straw. Guests enjoy wine and beer from Willamette Valley Vineyards, Domaine Drouhin, and Full Sail Brewery, and live entertainment by bluegrass local, Big Foot Mojo while chefs go head-to-head at the grill.
At the end of the evening, guests cast their vote for the chef with the best dish, each competing for grand prize winnings to benefit a Oregon children’s charity of his or her choice.
